If the weather changes from winter to summer sometime this year, Germans will likely be more on the move again on foot and by bike. Now ADAC is promoting its updated Android apps, which should help you with bike tours and walking tours. Android apps are available for 5 euros each and are basically an alternative to Komoot.
ADAC not only helps with breakdowns
“Time-consuming planning, searching and requesting directions come to an end with ADAC applications for excursions and bike tours: the“ Fahrrad Tourenplaner 2019 ”offers 17,000 tours in Germany, including topographic maps, a navigation function voice guidance and individual route planning. The new app “ADAC Wanderführer 2019” presents 21,000 tours in Germany over hills and valleys.
Cyclists and walkers who have activated the navigation mode are shown their own location, the next junction and the expected time to the destination along the route and, if they wish, are also announced. Individual tours can also be planned: after entering the start and destination points, the applications suggest a suitable route.
All routes are shown in detail on the topographic map at a scale of 1: 25,000: with information on the degree of difficulty, photographs, current weather information, an altitude profile and a detailed description that includes the route. Complete tour information, including the map, can be downloaded and used on the go without an internet connection ”.
As the graph above in the article reveals, Wear OS by Google is also supported. Unfortunately, there is no free trial version, so if you don’t like it, you will have to cancel the purchase.
