Chantelle fights back

Chantelle winnie finished fifth in season 21 of America’s Next Top Model And ever since then she has been a sought-after model with tons of fans who not only love her extraordinary looks, but want to copy her too. Dark-skinned people paint white areas on their body and face, just as light-skinned people draw darker areas.

Now critics are sounding the alarm that they believe this is a form of “Blackfacing” in which white people paint themselves dark and make fun of black culture. Also in the courtroom was the accusation that light-skinned people are not allowed to acquire the “typical” characteristics of blacks. Chantelle herself sees it completely differently and has now written a long text on her Instagram account in defense of her fans. Among other things, he writes:

“My answer to that is probably not what many want, but here it is. Anytime someone wants fuller lips or a bigger butt or curly hair or braids, it doesn’t mean our culture is being stolen. Don’t you understand that these things were ridiculed and are now loved and desired? Nobody wants to “steal” our gaze. (…) Just because a black girl wears blue contact lenses and has long straight hair doesn’t mean she wants to be white. And just because a white girl has braids and peppered lips doesn’t mean she really wants to be black. “
