When Dakota Johnson was a guest on David Letterman’s “The Late Show” Tuesday night, she made the 67-year-old sweat. But it was not the spicy details about his movie “Shades of Gray” that were responsible, rather it was the ambiguous statements about Dakota Johnson’s mother, Melanie Griffith, that made the talk show host blush.

American talk show host David Letterman is hard to shake. For nearly 35 years he has hosted the television format that bears his name “The Late Show with David Letterman” five times a week, making him the most experienced late-night host in America. The 67-year-old coach already had all the big stars in his television coach. Last Tuesday, shooting star Dakota Johnson was invited to his show and managed to make the otherwise self-confident man sweat with just a few sentences.

Dakota Johnson knows how to make men sweat

“On the way here I spoke to my mother on the phone and she told me to tell you that she loves you”, Dakota Johnson confessed to the talk show host and emphasized, “And she really meant it!” David Letterman, clearly surprised by the compliment, then put a big smile on his face. He replied: “And here’s something I tell you: your mom kept coming to the show and I loved your mom.” Then, after a brief moment of silence, Dakota Johnson added another: “Once he brought you handcuffs, tell me, are you my dad?”

Dakota Johnson briefly left David Letterman speechless

David Letterman apparently didn’t expect such sharpness in Dakota Johnson, because for a brief moment the otherwise sovereign talk show host didn’t know what to say: a loud “Wow! Boy! He expressed his amazement. “No, of course you’re just kidding. It was just a joke!” the visibly upset host explained to the “Shades of Gray” star and his audience. For the record: Dakota Johnson’s father is actor and singer Don Johnson, who was twice married to Melanie Griffith and, in addition to Dakota Johnson, has four children with two other women. During the breakup, Melanie Griffith was a regular guest on David Letterman’s “Late Show,” so it made sense to interpret this fact the way Dakota Johnson did.

It’s so funny how Dakota Johnson briefly left the talkative David Letterman speechless. During the promotional tour for her film “Shades of Gray”, the 25-year-old shows new sides of herself and has now shown that there is a lot of humor in her. So he could score with not just David Letterman and his audience, but us as well.
