Treatment of type 1 diabetes in children
If your child is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, there are a few things to keep in mind in the future. The diet changes, the blood sugar level must be monitored regularly and insulin must be injected constantly. If your blood sugar is very low, a snack will usually prevent hypoglycemia. If the values increase, insulin is injected.
But parents are not alone with the diagnosis. There are several educational programs available to help affected parents and children cope with diabetes. With proper guidance, sick children can quickly learn to measure blood sugar and inject insulin themselves. Diabetes in children is very manageable.
