Another Fuchsia function can be verified as confirmed, Google’s new operating system will support Android Runtime (ART). Basically that just means that Android apps can be used in Fuchsia. Similar to Chrome OS. Is that another sign that Fuchsia could eventually replace Android? This has been rumored for some time, but Google has yet to comment on these assumptions. Fuchsia is considered a project with an open future.

Chrome OS and Fuchsia as Android replacements?

However, there are interesting parallels because Chrome OS will replace the old Android on tablets. For the above transition, the operating system has also supported Android apps and Google Play Store for some time. However, sooner or later, Google seems to no longer rely on Android, at least on its own tablets, and will likely ask other manufacturers to do the same.

Fuchsia will have a special version of Android Runtime that should work on all Fuchsia devices. It is not yet clear how this works in the background. Your own Fuchsia kernel or an old Linux kernel in a virtual machine? There are still many similar questions that Google does not answer. Every now and then, apparently, only Fuchsia’s open source code provides new information.

Fuchsia is being developed from scratch, while Android is partly a composition of strange components. The latter always caused security problems, updates, etc.
