Google has given its own Android photo app some small innovations, and the assistant tab is finally getting a new make. To avoid confusion, “Assistant” will soon be called “For You.” In it we can still find edited photos, collages and other things that Google Photos automatically creates for us in the background. Almost only the name of the application area seems to have changed, but at least the details of how it works will be adapted.

Organize screenshots and documents

Formerly known as “Manage Your Library,” first-time users will also find a completely new menu item on the main menu. It is initially marked quite conspicuously with a red dot. To find it, Google describes it as follows: “We brought helpful suggestions, like correcting the alignment of the photos and filing the receipts in a new house.”

So suggestions are made, for example, to put old screenshots in the file. Or photographed documents. Everything that has nothing to do with the real photo gallery. Previously, these functions belonged to the Assistant tab (for you) and will therefore disappear from there.

Even with version 4.31, the innovations are not yet available to me. The edit menu, which can be opened for individual photos, was also recently redesigned. We report about it on Smartdroid.de.
