Google will soon introduce its Pixel 4 with Motion Sense, but the radar chips built into the front for recognizing gestures are not necessarily free to use. Some more exciting details about this innovation will be announced in advance. We can use Motion Sense in 38 countries, luckily according to 9to5Google our beloved Germany is already on this list. Also Austria and Switzerland.

Gesture control for some multimedia applications initially

But there is an obstacle to freedom of use, because Motion Sense will probably only work with specially adapted applications. Until now, we had assumed that gesture control could be applied to almost all applications that meet the relevant standards. Like the classic buttons on a media player. But no, there are “Compatible Applications” and the list of compatible multimedia applications is relatively short at first:

  • Amazon Music
  • Deezer
  • Google Play Music
  • iHeartRadio
  • Pandora
  • Spotify
  • Spotify stations
  • Youtube Music
  • Youtube

To update: There is now an even longer list of supported apps, and it may be even longer when the Pixel 4 launches. / Upgrade

Probably one or the other application is already missing, for example Apple Music cannot be found in this list and Soundcloud is also missing.
