International Women’s Day 2017

International Women's Day 2017

It is always scary to see that, despite today’s times, not all girls are sent to school. Many cultures still limit women’s education to parenting and housework. This is one of the reasons why 130 million girls do not have access to an adequate education to have. But we live in the 21st century and legally all girls have the right to education.

It happens that many organizations in March 8, International Women’s Day use it to start charity campaigns and advocate for women’s equality around the world. But one action caught our attention in particular, because we found the way activists represent the number of girls who do not attend school, it just seems magnificent to us!

This is the Organization UNO, which coinciding with International Women’s Day #Chicasconde started a project that gathers followers all over the world. This is how people all over the planet count from 1 to 130,000,000defend each of these 130 million girls who have not yet had access to school education. Anyone can participate in this campaign. And this is how it works: you search the website www.girlscount.one.org select an available number, make a note of how to recite that number, and thus give a worldly number a face. The little selfie movie then becomes part of a general video, which in the end asks politicians to give all girls access to a proper education. Great action!
