“Matrix” star Keanu Reeves returns as the avenging hit man John Wick in front of the camera. Filming on the acclaimed action thriller sequel will begin this fall.
After a few flops in recent years (for example, “47 Ronin”), Keanu Reeves recently had another big screen hit with the action-packed film “John Wick,” which was recognized by critics and fans alike. With a budget of just $ 20 million, the thriller grossed $ 78 million. A sequel was quickly announced.
Thunder Road, the production studio behind “John Wick 2,” has now opened that filming will begin in fall 2015 (via soon). As Keanu Reeves reprises the role of the infallible title hero, the sequel also retains directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski. As in the retired killer’s first adventure, screenwriter Derek Kolstad is responsible for the script.
In “John Wick,” the title hero, a former hit man, has a hard time enjoying his retirement. First his beloved wife dies, then his dog is killed by thieves who steal John’s boss’s Mustang in 1969. He quickly realizes that one of the thieves is Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen), the son of influential crime boss Viggo. Tarasov (Michael Nyqvist), for whom John once worked.
