There is more than just “man” and “woman”
But today it looks different. The awareness that there is not only “man” and “woman” is much more pronounced today. More and more people in public life admit to being transgender, like Giuliana from GNTM 2017, creating a new approach. This, in turn, stimulates discussions and conversations between them, which means that more people are daring to go out. It also leads to questioning yourself and your own feelings, and to stop thinking about the classic classifications. For many people who have not previously met “masculine” and “feminine”, this is a great liberation.
The study also shows that this rethinking is very present among young people. It would be the question of the study “Do you see yourself as transgender, genderqueer, cross-gender or are you not sure how to describe your gender?” wondered 10 years ago, many young people would probably never take it with them “Yes” replied. They didn’t know that you could be more than the usual genres and therefore they probably simply would have labeled their feelings as “weird.” Not being able to specify one’s gender or feeling both “masculine” and “feminine” or neither has never been as questioned as it is today. At that time, transgender people probably would not have dared to answer the question honestly because there would have been no acceptance of the issue.
