Hyundai i20 with mild hybrid system

The Hyundai i20 with mild hybrid technology is also new and will celebrate its world premiere in a few days at the Geneva Motor Show. It is already the third generation of the compact car that you want to mark with a revised and sportier exterior design: the roof is now 24 millimeters lower, the body 30 millimeters wider and 5 millimeters longer. The wheelbase has been increased by 10 millimeters.

Another technological innovation: there are two 10.25-inch displays inside, which consist of a digital instrument panel and a navigation touchscreen and are combined on the dashboard. Among other things, an emergency braking assistant (FCA), which now recognizes pedestrians and cyclists, ensures safety. A navigation-based adaptive cruise control system is also on board.

With two gasoline engines and three different transmissions, Hyundai meets various customer needs with the new i20. At the top of the series is a 1.0 T-GDi in two power levels (74 kW and 88 kW). The 88 kW (120 PS) variant has a 48-volt mild hybrid system as standard, which reduces fuel consumption by three to four percent.

The mild hybrid system is optionally available with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or a newly developed six-speed manual transmission with an electronically controlled clutch. The new manual transmission decouples the engine from the transmission as soon as the driver takes his foot off the accelerator pedal. Then the fuel saving navigation mode begins.

The new i20 has 17-inch alloy wheels and is produced in Izmit, Turkey. Hyundai has yet to reveal a price.
