New Sony cell phone: keeps getting better

Little by little new information about the next Sony Xperia 5 II comes to light. So far some questions about the battery have remained unanswered, but now they have been answered. The Japanese manufacturer has big plans for the best smartphone. There is already an interview.

Xperia 5 II: Sony depends on a powerful battery

It won’t be long before Sony introduces another cell phone with the best features with the new Xperia 5. Now what the manufacturer has in mind for the battery has been leaked. Like the Xperia 1 II, it should have a capacity of 4,000 mAh.

The battery charges up to 18 watts via USB Type-C, as can be seen in a new entry for the smartphone in the Federal Communications Commission. Therefore, the package will contain the Sony UCH32 charger, which can fully charge the battery in a short time. In the first Xperia 5, the battery had a rather weak performance of 3,140 mAh.

Sony has big plans for the Xperia 5 II. The case, which is quite compact by today’s standards, should accommodate an OLED screen with a 6.1-inch diagonal. The refresh rate should be 120 hertz for scrolling to be pleasantly smooth. Sony is catching up with the competition, which also offers 120 Hertz on its best models.

Sony won’t make any compromises on cameras either, and will apparently use the same lenses that are already used in the Xperia 1 II. This means a triple camera with Zeiss lens and optical image stabilization. It is possible to take photos with up to 12 MP each.

Sony Xperia 5 II with Snapdragon 865

Sony has opted for the fast Snapdragon 865 for the Xperia 5 II processor. It should be compatible with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Sony has also thought of a classic headphone jack.

The smartphone will be officially unveiled on September 17, 2020, possibly alongside an Xperia 8 Lite. No information on pricing yet. The Sony Xperia 1 II was initially offered for 1,199 euros, but is now a bit cheaper.
