Nickelodeon launched a series of cartoon series in the 1990s that are still an integral part of many childhood memories. Now the hit series “SpongeBob SquarePants” is going to have a prequel called “Kamp Koral.”
The goofy but lovable SpongeBob SquarePants (German voice: Santiago Ziesmer) celebrates his 20th anniversary this year with the cartoon series of the same name. The passionate burger roaster has already had all kinds of adventures with his best friend Patrick Star (Marco Kröger and Fritz Rott) and his grumpy neighbor Thaddäus Tentakel (Eberhard Prüter). And apparently even in much younger years: Like colleagues from Bleeding cold Reportedly, the Yellow Sponge gets its own prequel series with “Kamp Koral.”
This is what “Kamp Koral” is all about
When he was a sponge boy, SpongeBob and his friends go to a traditional summer camp. There they not only learn the tricks of jellyfish fishing, but also light their first underwater bonfire. Of course, a bathing excursion in Lake Yuckymuck is not to be missed.
Unlike the original “SpongeBob SquarePants” series, whose origins lie in classic hand-drawn animation. “Kamp Koral” made entirely by 3D digital animation. The first 13 episodes have already been commissioned by Nickeloden.
Buried “SpongeBob SquarePants 3” with him?
The success of the series has already led to two feature films. In 2004’s “The SpongeBob SquarePants Film,” even David Hasselhoff (“Knight Rider”) could be won over for a guest appearance. The “SpongeBob SquarePants 3D” released in 2015 was a mix of hand-drawn animation and computer animation. Under the original title “It’s A Wonderful Sponge,” the third series was supposed to hit theaters in 2020 and this time it would be entirely computer-animated. It remains to be seen if this plan still holds up, because the information about the plot so far corresponds exactly to that of the next series. Of course, a new movie is not excluded, but at least it is highly questionable whether it will still be about a trip to summer camp.
