HMD gave the go-ahead a few days ago, and the system update with Android 9 Pie on board will be distributed immediately. But sadly, this major system update is taking people away in one-off waves, so many users have to wait an indefinite period of time. But you don’t need to do it, because you can install the OTA update manually using various methods. One method only requires a file management application, not even a PC.

Download, rename, update

All you have to do is download the update to your device, rename the file, and place it in the downloads folder in your system directory. The installation process can be started through the phone application. It has worked for me without a problem, as described below:

  • the Update here (Google server) download.
  • The downloaded package (in the download folder) at B2N-322C-0-00WW-B01-update.zip Change the name and place it in the root directory of the internal memory.
  • Type * # * # 874 # * # * # * in the phone app to start the update. [via]

The new firmware installs without problems during operation, so you can continue to use the device. In the end, all it takes is a reboot, which you have to confirm and it won’t start on its own. The system works smoothly for me, there were no errors or data loss, but I cannot guarantee it.
