In recent days, Nvidia’s new streaming boxes were even available in stores, and now the new hardware for the Shield TV series has been officially unveiled. For only 159.99 euros there is an entry level, the Shield TV in the form of a rather large cigar. The foundation for both devices is the new Tegra X1 +, which enables AI-compatible 4K upscaling. Nvidia promises much higher image quality compared to classic upscaling. It will show the following image as an example:

The redesigned remote control, as well as Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos and the usual things that we expect from these types of streaming boxes are also part of the equipment of both models. The Pro model for 219.99 euros has mainly more memory, that is, 16 GB of data storage and 3 GB of RAM. The Pro model also has more USB ports for USB sticks and hard drives, and both devices have Ethernet, Bluetooth, and WLAN.

Both Nvidia Shield TV 2019 use Android TV with Google apps, so they can be controlled by voice using the Google Assistant, for example. A controller for players will continue to be offered.
