The excitement in Sweden increases by the hour: on Saturday, Princess Madeleine and her fiancé Chris O’Neill will finally stand in front of the altar and once again transform the capital Stockholm into a single fortress. However, the Swedes have to do without crowned heads. Except for the royal couple, Princess Madeleine will not accompany any queens or kings on their big day.
The wedding of Princess Madeleine will be, together with the coronation of Dutch King Willem-Alexander a few weeks ago, the biggest royal event of the year. However, the crowned heads of Europe seem to see it differentlyAlthough thousands of Swedes are expected in Stockholm on Saturday, wanting to pay tribute to Princess Madeleine and her lover Chris O’Neill, kings, queens and princes skip the big event.
An unofficial guest list is currently circulating in Sweden, but the palace has yet to confirm it. According to this, Princess Madeleine would have to dispense with the highest ranking members of the European ruling houses at her wedding. Queen Elizabeth, King Juan Carlos of Spain, Prince Albert of Monaco – all seem to have canceled their participation in Princess Madeleine’s wedding or were not even invited.Princess Madeleine: Are Frederik and Haakon the highest ranking guests?
But most of the royal heirs to the throne will also appear absent from Princess Madeleine’s wedding. Only Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and Danish heir to the throne Frederik, as well as Monegasque Princess Charlène, should reportedly deliver royal glamor. Princess Madeleine, on the other hand, shouldn’t mind: With 400 first-class guests, the ballroom is packed, even without crowned heads.
Princess Madeleine should have a fantastic day ahead of her, even without the great royal guests. This guest list has an advantage: at least no one is stealing the show from the beautiful princess!Image source: © Getty Images / Pascal Le Segretain
