SelfieType is the name of one of the latest Samsung developments. It is an invisible keyboard for the smartphone.
That sounds strange at first and in a way it is. With SelfieType, Samsung has introduced an experimental keyboard that the user cannot see but can operate through the front camera of their smartphone. Basically the system works like a projector, only in this case the projector scans instead of rays. SelfieType scans the area in front of the smartphone through the front camera, in which the user can write on the respective surface. Above all it should be a table.
The software learns the user’s range of motion and interprets their movements with the fingers. Of course, this is a very ambitious project and currently it shouldn’t work as well as in the promo video. But what if it did, if at some point the Samsung SelfieType could actually be used so comfortably and reliably?
Anyway, I’ll be looking at this topic. Another interesting approach is how it might be more convenient to work with mobile devices in the future. If you have a folding screen with a folding screen, the user does not even have to prop the smartphone against anything or store it in a case.
