Satellite wants to make traditional mobile phone providers superfluous and take care of your mobile phone entirely. Now the Android version of the sipgate service receives another innovation. You can transfer your old phone number and therefore go to Satellite. So far this has only been possible through the iOS app, which will finally be different these days. Satellite informed us by email, there is also a corresponding note in the Android app changelog.

Complete switch to satellite possible

The satellite works very well and you actually only make calls through us… But, what happens now with the number of your cell phone from childhood, which has made you fond of? We have a heart for old numbers and that is why you can switch to satellite with numbers from other providers. We explain exactly how this works in the FAQ and in the app. You can find the option “Port number” in the “Settings”

Meanwhile, it was announced that we would also be working on an improved voicemail feature during this time. Verification SMS will also be supported soon. Innovations are promised for the near future, no details have been given.

I’m just waiting a bit longer, but I’m considering transferring my number to Satellite. Instead, I pack a pure data SIM in my smartphone, which ultimately means: more data volume for less money.
