Google is opening up shopping, retailers will in the future be able to include their products in the online service for free and thus reach many new customers at no additional cost.
Google has announced a drastic change for Google Shopping, business customers will soon be able to publish their products there for free. According to Google, this is reacting to the current situation that many stores have to keep their physical stores closed or can only open them in a limited way. For distributors, this innovation means a lot of new potential customers. And for customers, increased distributors means significantly more products and prices to choose from.
Google Shopping is increasingly diverse
“Starting next week, search results on the Google Shopping tab will consist primarily of free product listings that will help merchants better engage with consumers, regardless of whether they advertise on Google. With hundreds of millions of shopping searches on Google every day, we know that many retailers have items in stock and ready to ship, but they are less visible online.
For retailers, this change means free contact with the millions of people who turn to Google every day to meet their shopping needs. For shoppers, this means more products from more stores than can be found on the Google Shopping tab.
Google wants to roll out these innovations initially in the US and globally by the end of the year.
