Google is currently a little behind with updating the Android distribution, but not much has changed around the world in recent weeks. According to Google, 12.1 percent of registered devices are on the go with the current Android 8 Oreo, just over 10 percent with 8.0 and just 2 percent with 8.1. After almost a year, of course, it is exhausting having to present these weak figures, but this is not new to us, either.

On our blog, it’s a bit different, where 8.0 already has the lead at almost 35 percent and 8.1 is third at 12.75 percent. But we are also a German Android blog, so we do not realistically reflect the entire market.

However, nothing has happened in terms of distribution of updates before Project Treble, Android 7 Nougat was only able to distribute similarly slowly last year. Treble should only be felt when switching from Android 8 to Android 9, if many current devices can be updated more quickly. But wait and see, we don’t want to be too early to expect you.

What version of Android are you using? Original or custom ROM?
