Amazon has secured the broadcast rights for the UEFA Champions League, some of the games will be shown in Germany on Prime Video.
In the coming years something will happen again around the broadcasts of the Champions League. As an exclusive first report now reveals, Amazon will be involved for the first three years beginning in the 2021/2022 season. For German fans, some of the games will be available on Amazon Prime Video. So far, Sky and DAZN have shared German broadcasts with each other, most of which can be viewed on the relatively young streaming provider DAZN.
Amazon Prime Video shows Tuesday’s games
Amazon appears to have bought only a small package, the company confirms when asked. Package A1 mainly includes the best matches of the Champions League, which will take place on Tuesday night. Basically, the Champions League is always played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Even now, broadcasting rights are divided in a complicated and difficult to understand way.
“We are looking forward to the UEFA Champions League, one of the most prestigious club competitions in the world. We are delighted to be able to show our customers in Germany the best games on Tuesday from 2021 ”.
It will be known in the coming days how the other pacts will be distributed for the three seasons starting in 2021. Fans fear that they will even need three subscriptions for a single competition in the future. Unfortunately, too much money is being chased in this regard rather than accommodating fans.
Main members will see more sports
Prime members can be free for the first 30 days without a prior subscription. Just sign up for a free trial membership on Amazon. In addition to previous and partially exclusive access to new offers, Prime also includes a flat rate for premium shipping, as well as series and movies.
