The Geneva Motor Show is canceled: there are still many new cars

The presentation of the new BMW Concept i4 caused a stir on Tuesday. The e-car with coupé character can convince not only with a powerful electric motor, but also with a very striking design.

Volkswagen ID.4

The ID.3 is followed by the ID.4 at Volkswagen, as a compact SUV. The second model based on VW’s Modular Electric Powertrain (MEB) will be launched in 2020, and will impress with its particularly aerodynamic design and a range of up to 500 kilometers.

Initially equipped with rear wheel drive only, an all-wheel drive model of the car, which was once known as the ID. The crossover concept vehicle saw the light of day. However, Volkswagen did not initially provide further technical details about the unit. But one thing is certain: indoors, operation is mainly via touch surfaces and voice control. Very similar to what you already know from the ID.3.

New Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrids

Should it be a hybrid powered car instead of an electric car? Then you can find what you are looking for at the premium manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. In addition to the CLA 250 e Coupé, the CLA 250 e Shooting Brake and the GLA 250 e will soon be available there under the EQ Power label. Mercedes wants to enable orders in spring 2020.

In addition to a power output of 160 kW, the equivalent of 218 hp, and 450 Newton meters of torque, the three new Mercedes hybrid models have a NEDC-E range of 71 to 79 kilometers, depending on the model. In addition to a 75 kW electric motor, it is also powered by a 1.33 liter four-cylinder engine.

Unfortunately, Mercedes has yet to reveal pricing for the three new plug-in hybrids.

Dacia Spring Electric

News also from the Renault Group. For the first time, a Dacia electric car study is available – the Dacia Spring Electric. The SUV-styled show car offers a glimpse into what will enter series production as a five-door model starting in 2021.

As with classic combustion engine cars, Dacia’s focus is on economic entry to electric mobility. There is no specific price for the urban SUV yet. According to the ranking in the entry-level segment, the range is also correspondingly. It is 200 kilometers comparatively short according to the WLTP standard. This is sufficient for city and cross country trips, but not for longer motorway trips.

The four-seater’s external features include increased ground clearance and a crossover front and rear design. There are also full LED headlights. They consist of the main headlights and four other lighting elements arranged below. The taillights are also made entirely of LED technology.

Hyundai Prophecy

Another concept vehicle that claims to offer a perspective on the electrified future: the Hyundai Prophecy. A true sports car that at first glance reminds you of a Porsche. Special feature: the control is similar to an Airbus that uses a joystick and no longer a steering wheel. It really has a futuristic character.

The silhouette of the vehicle is mainly determined by the laws of aerodynamics. With a lengthened wheelbase and shorter overhangs, the focus is on the ultimate automotive shape, according to Hyundai. The design philosophy should be reminiscent of a stone that has been cut by water for centuries. This is complemented by the clear and simple aerodynamic line, which runs from the vehicle’s A-pillar to the rear as if it were made in one piece. The stern also has an extremely muscular character.

Skoda Octavia RS iV

Skoda’s sporty RS family is now also available to customers with plug-in hybrid drive. The VW subsidiary on Tuesday presented the first model, the Skoda Octavia RS iV with a system power of 180 kW (245 hp), consisting of a 1.4-liter gasoline engine with 110 kW and an electric motor of 84 kW. The maximum possible torque is 400 Newton meters.

In sport mode, which provides full system performance, the Skoda Octavia RS iV accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.3 seconds, the manufacturer promises. No rocket science, but always fast. The maximum possible speed is 225 km / h. Those who drive slower can drive up to 60 kilometers on 18-inch alloy wheels purely electrically.

Skoda has yet to announce pricing for the RS plug-in hybrid. By the way, the Octavia will be available in three more electrified versions throughout the year.

Fisker’s Ocean

The Fisker Motion electric SUV isn’t really a novelty. And yet the vehicle was now shown in a version never seen before: as a moving vehicle in a video.

Power is 225 kW (306 PS), acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h should be possible in less than three seconds according to the manufacturer. Electric propulsion, including the 80 kWh battery, should be up to 480 kilometers.

Production of the car as a series vehicle is planned for the fourth quarter of 2021. In the US, there is a minimum of $ 37,499 for the all-wheel drive vehicle. Prices in euros will be announced later.
