So why are we seeing GNTM at all?
The fact that our society generally worships an ideal of beauty that almost no normal mortal beyond Pamela Reif & Co. can come close to is nothing new. The show is not to blame. But since apparently everyone is hooked on GNTM, I wonder: Why are we watching this show?

If no one were to watch the show, they would sink into television nirvana faster than “Studio Amani.” But in the end, we women sit in front of the television, even if we say of ourselves that we are feminists. Probably because the curious “me” in us just doesn’t want to put aside shows like “The Farmer Seeks a Wife”, “Wife Swap” or “Adam Seeks Eve.” And that’s why I’ll be watching GNTM again next Thursday, just to investigate, of course.
